Curtis was born in Lowgap, N.C., and had lived in Akron since 1929. He was married and had four children, 10 grandchildren. He was a 50+ year member Meridian Sun Lodge No. 69 F&AM and was retired from Ace Rubber Products and Borden Dairy. (ABJ obits 1993)
