He was the proprietor of the Hawkins’ Station plant in Akron which, though destroyed by fire, in June 1889, was immediately rebuilt. (info from Linda Fleming) Samuel was a “Jack of All Trades”, he lived with his parents on 100 acres on Cleveland-Massillon Rd in Bath, and they sold that farm and bought one on Ira Rd in Bath where he took care of his mother until she passed away. He was married twice; he had three sons and one daughter by his first wife. After she passed away, he married a lady from Richfield, and they had one son and three daughters. He sold the farm on Ira Rd. and moved to the Yellow House on (now) Brecksville Rd on the left just north of Rt. 303. He is said to have owned a Cheese Factory on Mill Road. He was born in 1828 and died in 1915 and is buried in the Richfield Cemetery on Broadview Rd. He lived in the Richfield area.
